About Backcourt Hoops

Backcourt Hoops, the top-rated Developmental Basketball Program and top-rated Select Basketball Program in The Woodlands, has been a tremendous training ground for local athletes looking to take their game to the next level. “We train athletes (boys & girls) in grades 5-8 and high school to become better basketball players. Our coaches / trainers at Backcourt Hoops teach the “art of basketball.” Backcourt Hoops is based on teaching individual skills and team fundamentals. Backcourt Hoops stresses concepts such as spacing, court balance and reading the defense. These simple skills will help players improve their all-around game, making them versatile, polished athletes of the game while also providing athletes the needed skills to make their school teams.

“We teach the art of basketball to our kids,” says founder Lance Craft, who played at Eureka College – NAIA. “Basketball at times has become an individual sport and has changed so much throughout the years, but we continue to stress the importance of team basketball. We start with the fundamentals of the game and advance our athletes from there.”

Anthony Medina, The University of St. Thomas Men’s Head Coach and former player at UST and TWHS oversees all basketball training curriculum we teach at our club. See more about Anthony at http://backcourt-hoops.net/anthony-medina-bio/

Backcourt Hoops offers Developmental and Select programs for boys and girls in the fifth grade thru high school. “We understand athletes will develop at a different rate of speed,” Craft said. “There are some youth who are much more advanced physically in middle school through high school. Then there are some who are late-bloomers and need to work on strength and skills. We work with all levels.”

Craft also sees a growing trend of kids bouncing from program to program.

“Families who persevere through their development make it farther,” Coach Craft said. “We typically get the kids that are not as gifted athletically but work hard on their fundamental skills and that proves to be successful in the long run. Some people give up on a program too quickly and don’t think about their future. They skip steps in their development, which is an advantage for our program since we focus on the core fundamentals throughout the process.”

Backcourt Hoops is based in The Woodlands, TX and conducts all programs out of Bear Branch Jr. High School. Our coaches are former and/or current collegiate players or high school coaches with a unique ability to train athletes to understand the advanced fundamentals of basketball. All coaches are background checked, AAU approved, USA
Basketball certified, and NCAA certified.
